AZ Systems (“we”, “our”, or “us”) built the Kagami app for Android and iOS. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service and the choices you have associated with that data.
Kagami connects to third-party platforms (MyAnimeList and AniList) using OAuth 2.0 authentication. We store only the access tokens required to sync your anime and manga lists, on your device: in Android’s EncryptedSharedPreferences on Android, and in the iOS Keychain on iOS. We do not collect, store, or transmit your passwords.
We do not operate our own servers or databases. No personal data is sent to AZ Systems.
Kagami integrates with the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
Requests to MangaBaka, Jikan, AnimeThemes and iTunes Search are sent directly from your device, without authentication, and include only the title, ID, or song title and artist being looked up (for iTunes Search, also your device’s region, so results match your local store). Like any web request, they reveal your device’s IP address to that service. No account information is sent.
When you open a trailer, listening or streaming link (for example YouTube, Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music or a streaming service), you leave Kagami and that app or website’s own privacy policy applies.
AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve personalized ads. Premium users have ads fully disabled.
All your list data (anime, manga, tracking progress) is stored locally on your device (in a Room database on Android, and in SwiftData on iOS). This data is synced to MyAnimeList or AniList via their official APIs. We have no access to this data.
Cache files used to improve app performance are stored locally and can be cleared from the app’s Settings screen at any time.
Kagami may request the following permissions.

Kagami on Android also runs periodic background tasks to reschedule notifications, check for new manga chapters, and sync your list.

No permissions are used for data collection purposes.
Kagami is suitable for users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
